TAWD VALE - ROUND 3

The day started with Harvey waking me at 6am in the tent, after a devastating 50 on Saturday he was wanting to be on the plinking range very, very early after a shave, shampoo and shower off he went.
After a quick shower we tried to wake Dopper, Jenny and Darren for a lighter as breakfast was waiting to be cooked.

The top shots of the day

Fed and watered we went off to the plinking range were Harvey looked as if he was praying to Allah!!, looking up to the sky on all fours WIND, WIND, WIND.

As a new club we had a fantastic turnout, there were about 17 club members who made the trip up to Tawd Vale, there were red hats everywhere.
Terry gave his team talk about 9.15 which seems to be doing the business, team spirit, camaraderie etc, I am sure we are the envy of the other teams.

I shot around with Jenny from the club and a chap called Chris Coombes, Jenny shot well but tired after the second day, I know she will get better and be a scoring lady in the club in the near future.
Chris Coombes. as we all know is a good guy on the shooting circuit and a privilege to shoot with, although he got a bit excited when he was reminded Jenny was knocking them down and he was'nt.
As soon as we had finished the round it was a quick bite to eat and on with the yellow bib for a spot of marshalling in the second session.

The Team Gun

Terry, Darren and myself marshalled the bottom end of the course, and our mate and fellow camper Harvey was chief Marshall in the gazebo. The shoot started and Harvey broke the chrono, Harvey was getting the hump, nicely.
Darren rang through and asked Harvey if he had spread tomato sauce on the chrono and started to eat it!!, so please if anyone says the Marshall's where laughing on Sunday afternoon this is the reason, there was plenty more banter going on and it was one of the funniest afternoon's of my life.

After the shooting had finished, the scores were added up and yet again M.A.D. were the winners of the team event and what a great result. Talking of Teams, it looks like Doppa the owner of our club is really getting into HFT.
I don't know if you all know this but he is one of the most respected FT shooter in the country and I think has only once been outside the top 10 in the Europeans in the past 5 years, a very respectedshooter who will be up there in the HFT world with the right kit.

The shoot off' s were again tense with the ladies being won by Steph, great result.

I must tell you all that I shot my first HFT with Steph about 18 months ago at Lea Valley, and she never stopped moaning all the way round about her gun etc. and I've got to say I just thought she shot crap, but it just goes to show with a lot of perseverance and practice she has got to the top, and by beating Heather in a shoot off she gets my deepest respect, well done Steph.
The men's open was won by another team member, Mike Elliot, who has come on leaps and bounds this year, a great achievement. We should look to Mike and Stephs results and try to accomplish what they have done for the team this year and as the old saying goes....................if at first you don't succeed, try, try again.
Mr consistent Owen Rosser finished 3rd in the open, another top result keeping I think 3 of the top 4 people all members of M.A.D.

The winners of the Team Event were Darren, Vinnie, Owen, Terry and Mike, all top shooters and well done to all, it must be telling on the other teams, and I must stop saying "Same old faces" as I am sure it will be getting up people's noses.

Team Tawd
The Boys

All the best to everyone who attended Tawd, and see you at the club for the Southern Counties on June 22nd.
